Timespinner Comes to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One Next Month

Developer Lunar Ray Games and publisher Chucklefish are bringing their action-platformer Timespinner to new consoles very soon. Timespinner released last year on Linux, Mac, PC, PS4, and PS Vita. Now it’s coming to a Nintendo Switch or Xbox One near you.

You control the timekeeper Lunais on her quest for revenge against the people who murdered her family. Fortunately, as the timekeeper, Lunais has the ability to bend time to her advantage. You use her powers to help explore the beautiful environments, evade her foes, and solve puzzles. She quickly gains access to various Magic Orbs, which alter and improve her combat abilities.

Lunais can also befriend and train various Familiars who will aid you in battle. If you’d like, you can even have a second player jump in and play as your familiar. Either way,  these adorable friends make the game much more manageable.

It wouldn’t be a game with time control if you couldn’t warp through time and visit different points in history. Timespinner features two different versions of its world and you will have to traverse both to find the vengeance you seek.

In recent years, we’ve been drowning in games trying to give a modern take on the classic Metroidvania genre. What Timespinner lacks in originality, it more than makes up for with stunning pixel art visuals and tight gameplay. The genre is undoubtedly oversaturated; however, I still think Timespinner is worth a look regardless.

Timespinner is coming to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on June 4. The game is already out on Linux, Mac, PC, PS4, and PS Vita.

Timespinner Coming to PlayStation 4 and PSVita on September 25

Lunar Ray Games has announced that their indie platformer Timespinner will be launching on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on September 25, 2018 for $19.99 USD. Inspired by classic 2D platformers from the 1990s, Timespinner follows Lunais, a young woman traveling through time to get revenge on an empire that killed her family. This game was kickstarted in summer of 2014, raising $176,667 of its $50,000 goal.

Timespinner features several unique gameplay features, such as Time-Stop that will freeze enemies in the room to be used as platforms or to get a better angle for combat. Each moment time is frozen consumes your Sand resource. Attacks are based around orb attacks, equipping and mixing up different orbs for different attacks. Each have a melee attack, a spell attack, and a passive boost. Spells and passive abilities must be unlocked by visiting an Alchemist first. Magic consumes Aura which will regenerate on its own. Orbs also level up by gaining experience from defeating enemies.

This game is a passion project from Bodie Lee who has been working on the fiction since he was in grade school. Multiple collectibles will detail characters, the history, and fill in an encyclopedia of the world. As usual, optional character quests offer unique rewards, and cutscenes are skippable. Decisions made in the far past will have unintended consequences on the present, though Lee does not lay out any specifics on what you can expect. You can check out the gameplay trailer below.
