We’re just two months out from the release of Man of Medan, the first entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology–an upcoming episodic horror series from Until Dawn creators Supermassive Games. That makes now a good time to familiarize ourselves with the Man of Medan cast and the characters they play. In part one of a new dev diary, Quantum Break‘s Shawn Ashmore speaks on his character, Conrad.
In Ashmore’s own words, Conrad initially comes off as rude, brash, and hard to like. However, the decisions you make can help break him out of that mold or push him even further into tooldom. Before you go writing off Conrad, keep in mind that some of Until Dawn‘s characters were in a similar boat. Mike was almost unbearable at first, but the more life-threatening situations he found himself Nathan Drakeing through, the clearer it became that he’s objectively the best character in that game.
Ashmore also speaks on Brad being his favorite character and what draws him to horror games.
“You take these normal people and you put them in an extraordinary situation and you get to play out your fantasy as a player,” he said. “Each character is relatable so when you’re making these decisions . . . you’re really asking yourself as the player ‘What would I do?’”
Man of Medan doesn’t look like it’ll deviate heavily from the Until Dawn formula. If you’re clamoring for more of the interactive horror movie vibes Until Dawn captured so well, as many people are, there’s a chance we’ll see them replicated.
Man of Medan releases for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One August 30. If you’re interested in pre-ordering it, you can do so on Amazon.
