The Final Fantasy VII Remake will release for PS4 on March 3, 2020. In the meantime, the game’s official Twitter account is dropping new images from the game here and there, like this one of the Shinra building.
Today, they tweeted some concept art and an in-game image of Midgar’s Sector 8. Midgar is the game’s most iconic city and the subject of the Remake’s first episode. Sector 8 is sat above the city’s slums, but it retains some of the gritty seediness we associate with Midgar. These images do a good job of capturing the neo-noir quality it had in the original game.
Today we’re revealing another brand-new piece of concept art, this time of the bustling Sector 8 from #FinalFantasy VII Remake, alongside an in-game screenshot.

The tweet asks you to notice the LOVELESS sign. Loveless Avenue is the name of the main road in Midgar’s Sector 8, and it’s also the name of a play that is featured in advertisements throughout FFVII. Cid Highwind, of all people, quotes its finale:
“Do you really have to leave?”
“I promised. The people I love, are waiting.”
“…I don’t understand. Not at all. But… please take care of yourself.”
“Of course… I’ll come back to you. Even if you don’t promise to wait. I’ll return knowing you’ll be here.”
However, despite being heavily advertised, the original game doesn’t show the play performed. Its special mention here makes me wonder if such content is being added into the Remake.
The concept art also features restaurants and drugstores. We haven’t seen how shops will operate in the Remake yet, and their inclusion here makes me excited to learn more about that. Obviously, shopping is a big part of the Final Fantasy franchise, so the Remake will have to handle it in one way or another. I’m hoping for vibrant shopkeepers and detailed interiors.
In any case, check out the images and let us know what you think. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the FF7 Remake as we approach its release on PS4 on March 3, 2020.
