Reigns is a strategy game that puts players in the role of a monarch, making important decisions—so it makes perfect sense that a version based on Game of Thrones is the next step for developer Nerial and Devolver Digital. The obviously-titled Reigns: Game of Thrones will have players navigate the complex politics and alliances in Westeros.
Players can choose between popular characters such as Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Sansa Stark, and more. Seen through the “fiery visions” of Melisandre, the Red Priestess, each character will have their own unique challenges. Expect the game to branch away from the mythology of the television show, with various “what if?” scenarios resulting from the player’s actions.
The gameplay of Reigns is presented in the form of cards—an advisor or other character presents the ruler with choices, and the player swipes in a certain direction to make a particular choice. Expect the same gameplay here, but with some George R.R. Martin flair.
Reigns: Game of Thrones can be pre-ordered on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Steam. The game will retail for $3.99 and release in October. Check out the trailer and some screenshots below.
