Persona 5 Royal Screenshots Details Akechi’s Confidant Events, Haru’s New Persona

Atlus revealed artwork and screenshots for Persona 5 Royal. It shows Morgana, Futaba, Makoto, and Haru along with their new personas. Details on the new confidant events with Akechi and the new January to April playable part were shared as well.

We already saw the new personas for Morgana, Makoto, and Futaba in the latest trailer, but it’s the first time we get to see Haru’s new persona, Lucy. Haru’s new persona is named after Lucy Hay, the countess who inspired Alexandre Dumas for the character of Milady in his The Three Musketeers novel.

Atlus also revealed screenshots for some of Akechi’s new confidant scenes. As you already know, in the original Persona 5, Akechi confidant rank would automatically level up as you progressed through the main story. In Persona 5 Royal, Joker can now hang out together with Akechi during the main story, just like the other confidant characters. Akechi now has actual confidant events and new confidant skills. One of those is “Detective’s Eye”, which reveals an enemy’s weakness at the beginning of the battle.

New screenshots for the January to April new playable part were also revealed. As a reminder, Atlus calls this part “third semester” in Japanese. I call it “January to April” for clarity as that’s when the third semester happens in the Japanese school system. However, Atlus didn’t confirm yet how long the new playable part is. What we know though is that it’s bigger than the content added in Persona 4 Golden.

Anyway, the screenshots show Morgana in human form, with the comments mentioning how Morgana always wanted to become human. (It also officially confirms this is Morgana, in the past, he was only called “hot guy”). We also see Futaba’s mom Wakaba. Then there’s Haru helping out her dad. Lastly, Makoto is talking in a way revealing that her father is still alive. Atlus is further hinting that the new part is taking place in an alternate reality where each character got a seemingly happier life. The screenshots also show the new Palace, mentioning it becomes accessible during this new January to April part, and how it has a different atmosphere than the other Palaces.

An artwork for new character José is also included, along with an explanation of the new Mementos mechanics. It also reveals José is voiced by Yukiko Morishita. You can read more about the new Mementos stuff and a bunch of other things with our summary of the first Persona 5 Royal stream, which also included a trailer for Akechi.

The screenshots are included below. Atlus also recently revealed that we’ll have more time for night activities in Persona 5 Royal. Morgana will be less insistent when it comes to sleeping, removing one of the biggest complaints about the original game.

PS4 exclusive Persona 5 Royal launches on October 31 in Japan and sometime in 2020 in the west.

Two of Atlus’ most anticipated upcoming titles, Catherine: Full Body and Persona 5 Royal are going to be part of an art showcase in August. Today, Atlus revealed that it has partnered with Gallery Nucleus in order to host the aptly titled Atlus Art Exhibit 2019: Persona 5 Royal & Catherine: Full Body featuring Shigenori Soejima in August.

That title pretty much tells you everything you need to know about what will be featured in the exhibit. Notable character designer Shigenori Soejima has worked with Atlus’ Art Unit and produced several pieces of art connected to Persona 5, Catherine: Full Body, and Persona 5 Royal. Considering that the last two games are not out yet in the west, this event should give some fans an early look at what to expect from the games in terms of style. The gallery will actually feature some pieces sourced from fan artists as well and will sell some exclusive Atlus merchandise.

The Gallery Nucleus is located in Los Angeles, California, and Atlus Art Exhibit 2019: Persona 5 Royal & Catherine: Full Body featuring Shigenori Soejima will be featured within the gallery from August 17 until September 1. On August 17, 2019, an Opening Day event will be held between 1pm and 7pm PDT where fans can attend a panel and an autograph session with Shigenori Soejima. While fans can not sign up for these things yet, Atlus says that they will let fans known on their social media pages when registration opens on August 2. If you are a Catherine or Persona fan in the LA area, this seems like a really cool exhibit to check out.

Catherine: Full Body will be the first of the two games to arrive on September 3 and you can pre-order it right now on Amazon. As for Persona 5 Royal, we only know that it will hit PS4 in the west sometime in 2020. You can check out the Kasumi Yoshizawa Introduction Trailer we created English subtitles for below:

Listen to “Take Over”, One of the New Battle BGMs in Persona 5 Royal

On June 21, Atlus published on the Persona Japanese Twitter an excerpt of one of the new BGMs found in Persona 5 Royal.

This new BGM is titled “Take Over”, and will play when Joker triggers a chance/ambush encounter by taking the enemy by surprise and removing their masks, as seen in the video. The original normal battle BGM, “Last Surprise”, will play when an encounter is triggered normally.

This was revealed following a fan question sent to Morgana, which asked to hear a bit of the new BGMs.

As a side note, the gameplay video also reveals a graphical detail change in P5R. The characters now get an aura around them after a Baton Touch, with the aura changing in color and intensity the higher the Baton Touch count is.

Persona 5 Royal has around 20 new BGMs by Shoji Meguro, including new vocal songs with Lyn such as Take Over. That was officially confirmed by Persona 5 Royal‘s development team in a Famitsu interview we’ve previously covered.

The latest batch of Persona 5 Royal info was delivered through the second Morgana’s Report stream. More info will be coming on June 25 during this month’s SegaNama stream.

Persona 5 Royal is a PS4 exclusive. The game launches on October 31 in Japan and in 2020 in the west. A trailer for new party member Kasumi Yoshizawa was previously released. The English dubbed version of the first trailer was also revealed at E3 2019. The Joker DLC was also confirmed for the western version of Catherine Full Body.

Persona 5 Royal Has New Elements Regarding a Certain Character, New Mechanics Explained with Gameplay

Atlus aired the Morgana’s Report #2 video, revealing many additional details on Persona 5 Royal.

Here’s all the new info from Morgana.

Kasumi’s confident is represented by the tarot card “La Foi”, which is “faith” in French.

Kasumi’s Persona Cendrillon uses Bless attributes skills and Physical attributes skills. Morgana also reiterates that “Kasumi could be an enemy or ally”, as there is some kind of friction between her and the phantom thieves initially, as heard in the first trailer’s dialogue.

Persona 5 Royal has a gallery like-mode that will allow us to rewatch cutscenes and such.

Persona 5 Royal will also have “new elements regarding Akechi Goro”.

New elements regarding dungeons and battles were explained. The new “Kyoma”, stronger type of enemies systematically counterattack when they’re attacked, even if they were hit by a multi-target skill. They drop very rare items if you manage to defeat them, however.

The “volition treasures” were also explained. These are special treasures separated into multiples parts in dungeons. If you manage to find all parts of a volition treasure, it fuses into an accessory. These accessories unlock powerful skills on the character who equips them. Basically, it’ll allow characters to use skills they usually don’t learn. The video shows an accessory which grants Diarama. I sure hope there’s one for Charge and one for Concentrate so I can give them to Yusuke and Haru respectively.

All party members also have new casual clothes outfits in Persona 5 Royal, A new screenshot showing one of Haru’s new outfits was shown.

The Lupin the Third-like wire actions are used to avoid traps or reach new places. The wire can also be used to ambush enemies from a distance. Using the wire on enemies to trigger encounters is the skill unlocked after reaching confidant level 4 with Kasumi.

The gun customization system has now more depth with even more customization choices. This includes making your gun shoot ammo with debuff or status effects.

Unlike the original game, In Persona 5 Royal, guns will also get their ammo back after each battle, allowing players to use them way more often.

PS4 exclusive Persona 5 Royal launches on October 31 in Japan, in 2020 in the west.

Kasumi’s intro video is also included below if you haven’t seen it yet.
