AI: The Somnium Files Physical Versions Delayed to September 24th

For those awaiting the physical release of AI: The Somnium Files, it has been revealed that there’s a slight delay in that release date. The physical versions for both PS4 and Nintendo Switch will be coming out September 24th. The digital versions of the game are still set for a September 17th release, however. So there’s still a viable option for those who can’t wait to play.

AI: The Somnium Files had been previously delayed to September 17th in North America (and September 20th in Europe) due to quality concerns.

The latest gameplay trailer for the game is here, which gives us an extended look into the story and characters as well as how actual gameplay mechanics work. The title was first revealed during a panel at Anime Expo 2018 in Los Angeles and the collaboration has been receiving occasional updates since then. Uchikoshi and Spike Chunsoft finally unveiled the project in full earlier this year, which was previously code-named Project Psync.

In a near-future Tokyo, Special Agent Kaname Date is on the case of a mysterious serial killer. Date must investigate crime scenes as well as dreams on the hunt for clues by diving into a person’s psyche and uncovering their hidden memories. All within a strict time limit.

The game starts with the following scenario: one rainy night in November, a woman’s body is found at an abandoned theme park, mounted on a merry-go-round horse. She had been stabbed repeatedly, and her left eye was gouged out. Kaname Date of the Metropolitan Police Department arrives on the scene. He recognizes the woman. Suddenly, he hears a noise from inside the merry-go-round. He breaks into the merry-go-round’s central column to find a young girl. And in her hands, she grips a bloody ice pick.

You can still preorder both the standard and limited edition for PS4 and Switch.

Retro City Rampage DX is Coming to PS Vita in Limited Physical Run

Retro City Rampage DX, which has gotten a release on nearly every other modern console so far, will finally be coming to PS Vita in a limited run physical edition. Only 3,000 units will be made and available for preorder on Wednesday, April 24th at 10am PST/1pm EST. And when the company says limited, they mean it. Sony has ended PS Vita cartridge production at this point, so there will be no more copies produced.

If you’re itching for even more merch for the game, you can purchase hand painted Retro City Rampage and Shakedown: Hawaii mini figures. The whole set will also go on sale on April 24th; each figurine comes with a removable stand and a box that doubles as a building backdrop. The button sets will also be back in stock at an unspecified date.

And for fans of Shakedown: Hawaii — don’t fret. The PS Vita physical copies for that title will also go on sale soon, with the exact time and date to be revealed later on. According to the developer “Physical copies for other platforms are also on the table for the future, but the PS Vita ones needed to be manufactured first due to PS Vita cartridge deadlines.”

Retro City Rampage DX has already been released for last-gen consoles and PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch in the past. Meanwhile you can check out the gallery below for the boxart, button set, and figurine collection. Naturally the designs for the merch are a stylish throwback to the 80s, much like the games they originate from.
