Pittsburgh Steelers Receiver Antonio Brown is Madden NFL 19’s Cover Athlete

EA Sports revealed a few months ago that Terrell Owens would be gracing the cover of Madden NFL 19‘s Hall of Fame Edition of the game, but we still didn’t know who would be appearing on the standard edition. That is, until today.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is this year’s cover athlete for Madden NFL 19. Brown, who is widely considered to be the best receiver in the NFL currently, is featured on the cover without a helmet and is prominently smiling, which is far different look compared to past box art images for Madden.

Brown has been in the NFL since 2010 and has since received accolades upon accolades. As a 6-time Pro Bowler and 4-time First-Team All-Pro receiver, Brown’s resume hasn’t just cemented him as one of the current best players in the NFL but has likely earned him a future spot at Canton, Ohio in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

EA Sports has also released a short new video featuring Brown to celebrate his announcement as Madden NFL 19’s cover athlete. You can find this video below.

Madden NFL 19 is slated to release in just a few short weeks on August 10 and it will be arriving on PS4, Xbox One, and for the first time in years, PC. Currently, you can head over to Amazon to pre-order yourself a copy of the game.

New England Patriots Win EA’s Annual Super Bowl Prediction in Madden NFL 18

Each year, EA will predict the outcome of each Super Bowl via a simulation in its newest Madden NFL title from EA Tiburon. This year for Super Bowl LII, Madden NFL 18 was used to determine the outcome of the big game, with the teams in question being the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.

As the title of this article suggests, the New England Patriots came out on top this year. The final score for EA was 24-20, with Tom Brady, the cover athlete of Madden NFL 18, taking home the MVP Honors. While the Eagles did score first in the simulation and fought hard throughout the whole game, the New England Patriots took the lead and kept in the fourth quarter after Tom Brady threw a touchdown pass to Danny Amendola.

EA’s Madden NFL predictions have actually had a decent track record of being correct in the past, especially when it comes to the Patriots. In 2015, they corrected predicted the Patriots’ late-game comeback against the Seattle Seahawks and final score in Super Bowl XLIX. Last year, they also correctly predicted that the New England Patriots would win yet again, this time against the Atlanta Falcons.

You can check out a video showcasing highlights from the simulated game below. Madden NFL 18 is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One.

Madden NFL 18 Xbox One X Enhancements Detailed by EA Tiburon

Madden NFL 18 released back in August on PS4 and Xbox One and was one of the best entries in yearly series in quite a while. The Xbox One X, on the other hand, launched yesterday after more than a year of anticipation from Microsoft fans. Tons of games are enhanced for the system, and one of these titles is Madden NFL 18 from EA Tiburon.

In a recent interview on Xbox Wire, Seth Christie, the Technical Director of Madden NFL 18, detailed what exactly the game’s enhancements on Xbox One X are. The game can be played in 4K and run at a consistent 60FPS when played on an Xbox One X. When asked how this impacts the gaming experience, Seth had the following to say:

“As mentioned above, the visuals are improved due to 4K Ultra HD support and the performance is improved due to constant 60 FPS across the gameplay experience. When you combine 4K Ultra HD, constant 60 fps with additional enhancements such as an increased level of camera detail, you’ll immediately notice and feel a difference in the immersion. This means that elements such as the player’s helmet and faces become more realistic –giving you the feeling that you are right there in the stadium.”

He also reveals that the developers really focused on those two areas when developing the update, as they are the most notable visual upgrades that can be made to a game, making Madden NFL 18 look closer to an actual NFL game broadcast. The powerful GPU allowed the developers to do this, and Seth says he thinks that there is “still room to improve the experience in the coming years.”

Finally, when asked how 4K and HDR will influence future titles from EA, Seth Christie seemed to have an optimistic feeling for future games from his studio:

“We are now able to deliver vibrant, detailed visuals only previously imagined by our team. Our games will continue taking advantage of these technologies to deliver realistic experiences into our fans’ living rooms.”

You can check out a video that highlights the game’s Xbox One X enhancements below. Madden NFL 18 is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One.
